Wake Forest Reservoir Access Closed Through Friday

The City of Raleigh will close the gravel road that extends from Traditions Grand Boulevard to the Wake Forest Reservoir parking area and boat ramp from approximately noon today until 5 p.m. tomorrow. The closure is necessary in order to allow crews to regrade the gravel road.

The work is included among several improvements scheduled to take place at the reservoir over the next several months.

The Wake Forest Reservoir is a 148-acre parcel that was transferred from the town to the City of Raleigh as part of the 2006 water and sewer merger agreement. Although Raleigh no longer utilizes the reservoir as a treatment facility, the city plans to keep the infrastructure in place in the event of an emergency drought.

Raleigh is expected to transfer ownership of the reservoir back to Wake Forest by the end of the year.
