Lanson Paul Stalf, the man wanted for the murder of his wife, Stephanie Autry, has been captured in Batesville, Miss.
Batesville Police officers located and arrested Stalf, 39, late this afternoon without incident at a Batesville hotel.
Stalf’s capture ends a nationwide search that began late Tuesday evening after his wife was found slain in her home in the 4400 block of Iyar Way.
Earlier today Stalf was identified as the man who robbed a Hernando, Miss. bank Friday morning.
Stalf’s extradition will be determined by the district attorneys with jurisdiction in this case. Once he is extradited back to Raleigh, Stalf will be charged with murder.
Stalf’s arrest is the result of a joint effort between multiple police agencies. The Wake Forest Police Department would like to especially thank the US Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Batesville Police Department for their exemplary assistance.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
