At owner’s request, Cumberland deputies shoot, kill dog

— A Cumberland County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a bulldog Tuesday evening while serving a subpoena on its owner.

Carl Glindeman asked the deputy to shoot his dog after it bit him and was attacking a smaller dog.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies had served the subpoena at Glindeman’s 309 Andrews Road home and were leaving when his bulldog rushed him in the carport.

Deputies first tried to hit and kick the dog to get it to unclench its teeth from Glindeman’s leg. When it finally did, deputies said, it attacked a smaller dog of Glindeman’s, and he asked them to fire to end the attack.

Glindeman was taken to a hospital for treatment of the wound to his leg.
