Christmas Holiday Schedule

The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Wednesday – Friday, Dec. 23-25, for the Christmas holiday. Police service will not be interrupted, but the town’s bus service and sanitation schedules will be affected.

Wake Forest bus service, including the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop, will not be provided Friday, Dec. 25. Only the Wake Forest Loop will operate Dec. 24 – until 7 p.m. The Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop will resume their normal schedules Monday, Dec. 28.

The collection of garbage and recycling for the week of Dec. 21 will change as follows:

Also during the week of Dec. 21, yard waste will not be collected Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 23-25. The collection of all routes will occur Monday – Tuesday, Dec. 21-22, until all have been completed. In order to ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, residents should place yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21. Please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles, or other fixed objects.

Wake Forest will suspend loose leaf collection during the week of Dec. 21. Loose leaf collection will resume Monday, Dec. 28.

 

Bulk pick-ups will be scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22. To schedule a bulk pickup, call 919- 435-9570 by 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message that includes their name and physical address. Residents may also request a bulk pickup by emailing [email protected].

Beginning Monday, Dec. 28, Wake Forest will collect and recycle old Christmas trees from residential homes according to the normal yard waste collection schedule. The trees will be ground into mulch, which will be available for free to residents upon request. Orders for mulch are currently being accepted by emailing [email protected] or calling 919-435-9570.

All Wake Forest residents whose yard waste is collected by the town may participate in the “Treecycling” program. To recycle your Christmas tree, please remove all decorations, tinsel, nails, stands and bags from the tree and set it behind the curb for collection. Artificial trees cannot be recycled.
