Man charged in shooting at Raleigh home

— A man was charged Wednesday afternoon in connection to a shooting and assault that occurred at a Raleigh home.

Jaquan Deandre Avery-Kennedy, 21, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection to a shooting that occurred just before 12:30 p.m. at a home at 7040 Barlows Knoll Street.

Police said that Kennedy shot Torri Ameaka Boyd, 38, in the neck. She was taken to WakeMed for treatment.

Kennedy and Boyd knew each other prior to the assault, said police.

Kennedy was also charged with assault on a female and battery an unborn child for a domestic altercation that took place at the home prior to the shooting. Police said that charge concerns injuries sustained by Diarra Monia Patterson, 21, who is pregnant.

Kennedy was being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
