The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday. Police service will not be interrupted, but the town’s bus service and sanitation schedules will be affected.
Wake Forest bus service, including the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop, will not be provided Jan. 1. Both the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop will resume their normal schedules Monday, Jan. 4.
The collection of garbage and recycling for the week of Dec. 28 will change as follows:

Also during the week of Dec. 28, yard waste will not be collected Friday, Jan. 1. The collection of all routes will occur Monday – Thursday, Dec. 28-31, until all have been completed. Crews will complete each day’s route before starting on the next. In order to ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, Wake Forest residents who normally have their yard waste collected on Friday are urged to leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28. As always, please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles, or other fixed objects.
Bulk pickups will be scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 29. To schedule a bulk pickup, call 919- 435-9570 by 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message that includes their name and physical address. Residents may also request a bulk pickup by emailing Betty Pearce at [email protected].
Beginning Monday, Dec. 28, Wake Forest will collect and recycle old Christmas trees from residential homes according to the normal yard waste collection schedule. The trees will be ground into mulch, which will be available for free to residents upon request. Orders for mulch are currently being accepted by emailing [email protected] or calling 919-435-9570.
All Wake Forest residents whose yard waste is collected by the town may participate in the “Treecycling” program. To recycle your Christmas tree, please remove all decorations, tinsel, nails, stands and bags from the tree and set it behind the curb for collection. Artificial trees cannot be recycled.
Town offices will re-open Monday, Jan. 4, at 8 a.m.
