Flooding closes Vance roads, threatens Kerr Lake campsites

— Two Vance County bridges were under water Monday, and authorities closed three roads because of flooding in the area after recent rains.

Nutbush, Anderson Creek and Jacksontown roads were closed because of high water.

Kerr Lake campsites are closed for the season, but state work crews had to come in over the weekend to remove 50 to 60 electrical boxes to prevent any damage from flooding. The lake is 8 feet above normal levels.

When the water recedes, the crews will return to bolt the electrical boxes back to the posts at campsites and clean up any damage from the flooding.

Meanwhile, water levels at Falls Lake in Wake County rose 6 feet over the past week, but officials said no problems have been reported.
