Durham, N.C. — A Durham man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting last month surrendered to police on Monday.
Eric Gershon Wiggins, 25, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the Dec. 1 death of Shawn Cade-Oree, police said.
Cade-Oree, 29, was found shot in the head at a house in the 2200 block of Concord Street and died later at a local hospital. Police said the shooting appeared to have resulted from a dispute.
The shooting – area residents said they heard more than a dozen shots fired – prompted North Carolina Central University to issue a crime alert to students on the campus nearby.
Wiggins’ cousin, Christopher Emmanuel Wiggins, 20, of Durham, was arrested last Thursday and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
