Final Four fever hits Chapel Hill

— Tar Heel fans are proud to claim the only North Carolina basketball program to make it to the NCAA Men’s Final Four, and they are ready to show it on their shirts.

At the Shrunken Head boutique on Franklin Street, shoppers were putting their names on the preorder list.

Manager Genny Wrenn said she had ordered 1,600 T-shirts in five Final Four designs and expects all to be big sellers. While the team played, Wrenn prepared.

“They are what’s called if-win orders. We have everything ordered, and it all depends on the team. As soon as the buzzer sounds they’ll start printing,” Wrenn said. “That’s what they did for the Final Four shirts and the hats.”

For those willing to make a bigger investment to back the Heels, the Rams Club is offering Final Four travel packages. For $3,000, an individual gets a round-trip flight to Houston, four nights in a hotel and transportation to the games, but that price does not include the cost of a ticket. An online search Monday showed center-court seats selling for as much as $50,000.

Online outlets were offering souvenirs ranging from tchotchkes to gold coins. Anything with the Final Four logo is in high demand.
