Raleigh police investigate rape of 27-year-old

— Raleigh police are investigating a rape that occurred on Sandy Forks Road Saturday night.

Raleigh police said officers were dispatched to a reported rape in the 7000 block of Sandy Forks Road just after 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities said a 27-year-old woman was walking in a wooded buffer area when she was grabbed from behind by a light-skinned suspect of an unknown race or ethnicity.

The suspect, who indicated he was armed with a knife, fled on foot following the rape, police said.

Detectives are seeking information from people who were in the area between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday night. Anybody with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.
