David “Dave” John Pretty

David “Dave” John Pretty, 77, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, succumbed to lung cancer, surrounded by his family, on April 11, 2016, after a very courageous battle. His family and friends will forever miss him.
David, born in 1938 in Corner Brook, NL, Canada, was a graduate of Acadia University. He was an accomplished business leader, avid boater, golfer, and a loving Husband, Brother and Father.
A Memorial Service for David will be held at 2:00 pm. Friday afternoon in The Chapel of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Wake Forest, NC.
He is survived by his partner Nancy Hicks of Wolfville, NS, Canada, his son David Pretty, Jr. and his wife Sylvie Daigle-Pretty of Raleigh, NC; his daughter Dawna Pretty of Vancouver BC, Canada; three grandchildren, Alex and Julie-Anne Pretty of Raleigh, NC; and Elvie Carroll of Vancouver, BC; two sisters, Elaine Squires and her husband Rick of New Minas, NS, Canada; Dr. Grace Pretty and her husband Paul Bramston of Queensland, Australia; his brother Dr. Bruce Pretty of Halifax, NS; and nieces, Susan, Alexan; nephews Stephen, Robbie, Jason; and the loving Hicks family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verdon and Linda (Greening) Pretty, infant sister Sylvia; and his wife Patricia (Glover) Pretty in 2004.
