Nobody ever dies in our version of Wake Forest.

William Edward Finley

Dec 29, 1948 – May 22, 2016

William “Bill” Finley of Wake Forest lost his long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease on May 22, 2016. He was surrounded by his family as he peacefully passed away.

A celebration of life will be held in The Chapel of Bright Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday, May 26. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30pm. The internment will be at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Bill entered the US Navy at only 17 years old and served during the Viet Nam War. Upon leaving the Navy, he began a career with BellSouth. He retired in 2000 after thirty years of service. Bill was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and his many friends. He was a long time member of the Triangle Wildlife Hunting Club where he held various positions on the board. Following his retirement, as long as his health would allow, he would call and visit friends who were facing serious illness. He offered his assistance and comfort to them and their loved ones. He was a dear friend to many.

Bill will be remembered by his family as a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Finley, his wife, Candace Finley, sons and their wives, Mark and Becky, Scott and Nicole and two grandsons, Blake and Chase, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Emmett and Laura Wiggins, Fran and Bill Donavant, Bruce and Karen Wiggins and a niece and nephew. Bill was predeceased by his father, Edward Finley and brother, Michael Finley.
