Neighbor noticed 'something wrong' at Fayetteville home where 2 were found dead

— Fayetteville police on Wednesday night began an investigation after two people were found dead inside a home.

Officers responded around 10 p.m. to 6301 Cool Shade Dr. to do a wellbeing check. When they arrived, the bodies of a man and woman were found inside the home.

The identities and cause of death were not released, but officers said both people were both approximately 60 years old.

Neighbors identified the couple as John and Delilah Miles.

A neighbor who did not want to give her name said she’s known the home’s residents for more than 20 years and suspected something was wrong over the past two days.

She said she had not seen the couple’s car, which is still missing, for two days and all the lights have been off inside the house. Around 6 p.m. last night, the neighbor said the couple’s daughter called, saying she had been trying to call her mother, who wasn’t answering. The neighbor told the daughter to call police.

Neighbors said the woman retired from the VA Medical Center a few years ago and he was a retired post office worker who previously served in the military.

“Quiet person, no problem with either one of them,” said neighbor John Handey. “She was always out working in the yard and he was doing whatever he had to do, like take out teh trash.”

Anyone with information about the deaths should contact Detective Walker with the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-237-9391 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
