Around 10:27 PM on Monday night the call went out from Granville County and the Brassfield Fire Department for assistance. Stony Hill Fire Department answered the call at 3141 Pier Pointe Driver in Creedmoor.

But like a lot of fire calls, what gets dispatched and what it turns out to be can sometimes two completely different things.
The call was for Stony Hill Fire Department to provide mutual aid with a barn fire. Sounded big, so we rolled through the temperature plunging dark night on wavy back roads to capture it for you.
It was 20 degrees out when we arrived. We were prepared to see a hot fire with ice forming on wet hoses.
Well luckily for the homeowner it turned out to just be a charred chimney top which the two departments rapidly brought under control.

Knowing the temperature was continuing to drop and it looked as if everything was under control we did what any smart reporter would do and got back in the warm car and back to some hot chocolate.
