Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion on Friday afternoon at 13020 Keith Store Road, which backs up to Falls of Neuse Road.
As they ran outside they saw an immediate big ball of fire coming from the shed in the backyard. The fire was not brought under control until firefighters arrived.
Both Wake Forest Fire Department and Stony Hill Fire Department responded and while the shed was a total loss it appears the ski boat stored under a cover on the back of the shed was saved. A car under cover in front of the shed was spared as well.

The air was heavy with smoke and the smell of burning plastics when we walked up. Luckily the fire did not impact the neighboring dwellings.
Wake Forest Assistant Chief David Davis looked like he had the scene under control as the flames were quickly snuffed out. And as is not unusual it appears Wake Forest Engine 5 was first on the scene. A contingent of Wake Sheriff Office officers arrived as well. We don’t have a clue where they suddenly apparate from but they are all of a sudden magically there.

The family was reportedly away from home when the explosion took place. The fire will be investigated by the Wake County Fire Inspectors to make sure it was not nefariously started.
