Clayton police seek 3 men wanted in gas station robbery

— Clayton police released surveillance photos on Monday of three men who investigators believe robbed a convenience store on U.S. Highway 70 Business.

According to authorities, the robbery happened at about 1:45 a.m. at the Han-dee Hugo location on U.S. 70 Business near Shotwell Road.

Investigators say three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, walked into the store and demanded money from the clerk. No customers were inside the store at the time.

The men walked behind the store counter and took money, cigarettes and cigars before running toward a dirt parking lot behind the gas station.

The suspects allegedly left the area in an older-model Ford Explorer headed down Shotwell Road.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611 or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919-359-8479.
