Citing HB2, San Francisco Symphony cancels Chapel Hill shows

— The San Francisco Symphony on Monday announced it is canceling two concerts in Chapel Hill in response to House Bill 2.

The Symphony joins a longer list of organizations that also skipped North Carolina due to the law, including business expansions, the NBA’s 2017 All-Star Game and several NCAA athletic events. The law prohibits anti-discrimination protections for gay and transgender individuals and requires transgender people to use the bathrooms in schools and other public buildings that correspond to their birth gender.

The shows were scheduled for April 5-6, 2017.
