Man Shoots Self in Thigh at Royal Mill Apartments

At 7:54 PM the call went out for Wake Forest Ladder 1 but the friendly Wake Forest Engine 2 took the call for them. Wake EMS joined the call and also responded to the Royal Mill Apartments for a shooting. Wake Forest Police made sure the scene was secure before medical care ventured in.

The incident was unfortunate but seemed to deliver the best quote of the day which I can’t repeat here. Let me just say it was bubbling over with irony and made venturing out to cover the incident, well worth it.

From observations at the scene a man seated in a red pickup truck outside of the back of the apartments was being hauled out onto a stretcher. Apparently a firearm was accidentally discharged into his right thigh. Rut Ro. Not sure who was responsible for the premature projectulation.

First responders secure the gun and the patient. Only one got loaded on a stretcher for an expensive, but valuable, ride to the hospital.

The good news is if the man had “getting shot in the thigh” on his bucket list, he can check that off now.
