Moss: Warmer Temps on the Way After Sunday Chill

Current Temperatures, DMA

— Temperatures were below freezing in much of the viewing area overnight, but conditions will warm up slowly on Sunday before reentering the 60s and 70s for the week ahead.

Low temperatures dropped into the 20s Saturday night, and Sunday morning will feel just as cool, with temperatures hovering in the 30s and low 40s.

According to WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss, the day will remain chilly, as temperatures will struggle to rise above 50 degrees even in the late afternoon. Wind chill will make Sunday morning feel even colder, in the 20s, Moss said.

“We’ll have lots of sunshine and blue skies to finish out the weekend with a northeast to east breeze that leaves us on the cool side of normal,” he said.

“We’ll see highs this afternoon that range from upper 40s in the north to the mid 50s in the south.”

Monday and the week ahead will be a much different story, with highs remaining in the 60s and 70s through next weekend. According to Moss, highs will linger in the mid 60s through Wednesday before warming up for the later portion of the week. The entire week will remain mostly sunny and fairly dry, Moss said, but there is a chance of rain on Tuesday.
