What child doesn’t dream of being a hero, and what adult doesn’t dream of being a kid again? First-In Fire Company brings the dream right to your door. They deliver a real fire apparatus and personnel to your bachelor/bachelorette or birthday party (kids or adults), wedding, company-sponsored picnic or other special event to create an experience you won’t soon forget. The possibilities are endless!
Dwight Jeckel, a Lieutenant at Wake New Hope Fire Department, had a desire to own a fire engine. For some, that may be a dream that will never become a reality – not so for Dwight.
He purchased a 1985 American LaFrance pumper that features an aluminum body, a 1,500-gpm Hale pump, a 500-gallon stainless booster tank, front suction, a deluge gun, a booster reel, a six-person enclosed cab with a Detroit 8V71 350-hp diesel engine, a four-speed automatic transmission, and new 22.5-inch aluminum wheels and tires.

Dwight did not want the fire engine just to sit at home as a show-piece. So, he and his wife developed it in to a family owned and operated business that could bring joy to kids and adults alike. Dwight wanted to start First-In Fire Company to share his love for fire trucks and fire safety. He has an excitement that is contagious, and that is sure to make every event a fun experience.
Crissy is the main contact person for First-In Fire, and she loves assisting clients with their party needs. She will make your event memorable, such that it will be the talk of the town! Let her know Wake Forest News sent you, and I am sure Crissy can find something extra special for you.
Considering a normal firefighter’s schedule, Dwight and Crissy had to enlist the help of other local firefighters in order for their dream to grow; this has provided several other local firefighters the opportunity to have fun while giving back to the community to which they provide fire service.
One day, the Jeckels hope to create a summer camp, provided they can find a location. It could start as early as 2015, and would be for ages 5-13. It would be broken down into age groups spanning two years. It would focus on fun, but it would aim to build knowledge and skill sets at the same time!
Crissy wants to bring fire education, the love of firefighting, and fun and excitement to kids in a new and engaging way! She loves creating new programs and developing new ideas, and assures me that many more ideas and programs will come to fruition in the future!
Dwight and Crissy are expanding, and they need more drivers. If you are a Triangle-area firefighter who is interested in driving the classic fire engine, and you have a CDL, contact them! If driving is not your thing but you want to get involved they are Looking for party planners, It takes allot of time and dedication to make the events happen.
They can even arrange to take you to prom in the fire engine. You might have even seen them chauffeur the Wake Forest Cougars to their 2013 prom!
I can tell you based on first hand experience ” Even at my age of 30 Riding a classic is an adrenaline rush” Thanks Dwight for the short spin in a classic
