After noon on Thursday I was down on 540 when a call went out for Bay Leaf Fire Department units to respond to what could have been a vehicle over the embankment and driver pinned call. Both Bay Leaf Rescue 36 and Pumper 251 with their super awesome firefighters were dispatched along with the stellar paramedics of Wake EMS 12.
But like many emergency calls, the end result on scene was a slightly different reality.
The good news is there was no car over the embankment. The bad news is someone at JT’s Landscaping is still having a really bad day.
The accident was between two trucks. One of the trucks belonged to JT’s landscaping and was towing a trailer. The driver told me he was slowing down to make a right turn when he felt the impact into the trailer he was towing. He said it nearly threw him out of the truck. And judging by the front of the truck that he was driving, that looks like it could have been a reality. He was not treated for injuries but as you can imagine, he said he was shaken up.
The second truck involved in the accident, well, it also belonged to JT’s landscaping, as did the trailer. So it appears JT’s Landscaping tore up two of their own trucks and a trailer in a freak inter-company accident. And like I said, that’s a bad day, especially for good ole JT.
I wonder if the conversation following the accident went something like this.
“Boss, I hate to tell you but I had an accident and the truck is all smashed up.”
“Crap, well call the other truck to come get your materials and let’s see how soon they can be there.”
“Boss, the other truck is here. That’s the one that hit me and destroyed the trailer.”
