At about twenty after noon today while cars were turning left from Heritage Lake Road onto Dr. Calvin Jones (98) witnesses said the driver of the lighter colored Toyota Camry was traveling into Wake Forest on Dr. Calvin Jones and allegedly ran the red light and struck another car.
The driver of the red Kia told me she felt “blessed.” “It could have been so much worse. All I really felt was a slight bump as she caught the front of my car,” she said.

And by the looks of things, she was pretty luck to avoid a direct side impact at 55 MPH.
The driver of a white van that was turning from Heritage Lake Road, who is a reader of the Wake Forest News, told me he saw the Toyota spinning and watched a wheel fly from the car and bounce into the woods.

The Toyota came to rest snugly against the guard rail with the driver door unable to be opened. Paramedics and firefighters assisted the woman to pull forward on three wheels so she could be extracted from the Toyota. The elderly woman driver walked under her own steam to the ambulance.
The driver of the red Kia was unhurt but certainly appreciating life this afternoon.
