Drivers should expect daytime delays along Burlington Mills Road today and tomorrow, June 30-July 1, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Gaines Construction working on behalf of Mungo Homes at the Preserve at Kitchin Farms will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic the portion of Burlington Mills between One World Way and Ligon Mill Road.
The lane closure is necessary to allow crews to bore a utility line under the roadway.
No detours will be posted, but signs and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the area. Delays are expected, so motorists are urged to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
The Town of Wake Forest provides this information as a public service. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through the work area. Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers at all times. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
