This afternoon 4:30 PM a single vehicle accident was reported on Durham Road, near Wingate Street.

The vehicle which overturned contained a mother and a six-week-old baby. Make that a really cute baby. Both baby and mother were transported to the hospital in Eastern Wake EMS 64 as a precaution and to be evaluated.

From the looks of things on the scene it appeared the car, for whatever reason, struck a tree in front of an abandoned house, flinging its hubcap on the front porch roof.

While these episodes are scary and frightening, I do have to award 1,000 bonus points to the driver for the on-the-roof trick. If you’re going to have an accident, at least do it with some extra style.

At the end of the day it appears all involved are shaken but will be okay. Thank goodness for good car seats.
