Wake County Not to File Charges Now Against Calvin Ray in Recent Shooting

The Wake Sheriff’s Office has just advised that in regard to the Wake Forest shooting that occurred on July 12, 2014, they will not be filing criminal charges at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office stated, upon arrival at that residence deputies found Mr. Jeffery Mitchell, 47, of 27 Spring Lane, Wake Forest, deceased on the front porch having received a gunshot wound to the upper body. Mr. Calvin Anderson Ray, Sr., 89, who resides there, stated he had shot Mr. Mitchell as Mr. Mitchell broke into the residence.

The Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and on Monday July 14th met with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office at which time the investigation was discussed and reviewed. The District Attorney’s Office determined that at this time there will be no criminal charges against Mr. Ray, however the investigation is continuing.
