Hooray for WFPD Sgt. Jefferson

First off I must admit I am completely biased when it comes to Wake Forest Police Department Sergeant Jefferson. He is one hell of a nice guy. Not only is he officer suave but apparently he’s got brains as well.

According to the Town of Wake Forest, Sgt. Jefferson graduated from NC State University’s Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP) on Thursday, July 24. That’s not an easy task.

The AOMP is a unique educational program for law enforcement professionals. It is an intensive 12-week academic program during which they earn 15 college credits and a certificate of completion. Participants, who come from across the U.S. and international locations, are nominated by their department or agency to attend.

Sgt. Jefferson is a native of Warrenton, NC, and a 1992 graduate of Warren County High School where he was known as “I’m gonna get you” Jefferson. Jefferson graduated from Vance-Granville Community College in 1996 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the Wake Forest Police Department in September 2006 after serving 10 years as a Detention Sergeant with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

WFPD Chief Leonard restrains Sgt. Jefferson from leaving before the required photo is taken.

Some say Chief Leonard nominated Jefferson to attend so he could get his picture in the Wake Forest News. I suspect that is just a rumor.
