Mayoral & Board of Commissioners Candidates Forum Oct. 24

Town of Wake Forest News

The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Wake Forest will host an informative and interactive Candidates Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 7-9 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St.

All of the candidates vying for mayor and the Board of Commissioners will be present. The two mayoral candidates are incumbent Mayor Vivian Jones and first-term Commissioner Jim Thompson, while the five candidates vying for two seats on the Board of Commissioners are Ned Jones, Thad Juszczak, Liz Simpers, John Van Ness and Bridget Wall-Lennon.

Sponsored by Wake Electric Membership Corp., the event is free and open to the public. Seats will be filled on a first-come basis.

The Board of Commissioners forum will take place first, followed by the mayoral forum. An interactive “meet and greet” with all the candidates will conclude the event.

The Chamber of Commerce is inviting area residents to submit one question for the candidates at http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07eeoj0or4j8d4gi9j/start. The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee will review the submissions and consider including one or more as part of the forum.

Wake Forest residents who are unable to attend the forum can watch a rebroadcast of the event on Wake Forest TV 10 (WFTV 10) or on the Town’s website at www.wakeforestnc.gov/wftv-10.aspx.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 27, the unedited forum will be rebroadcast daily through Election Day on WFTV 10 at noon and 6 p.m. The 2017 Candidates’ Forum is the only forum that will be aired this year on WFTV 10.

WFTV 10 is the Town’s government access channel that serves the residents of Wake Forest. Produced by the Town of Wake Forest Communications Department, WFTV 10 is available to residents and businesses that subscribe to Spectrum Cable TV service. The information channel operates 24 hours per day and provides information about various programs, services, upcoming meetings and special events sponsored by the Town of Wake Forest.
