This morning was not a good day for a 20-year-old-ish young man and his mother in the 100 block of Pineview Drive, a very nice and quiet neighborhood in Louisburg.
Apparently the young man took his mother hostage at some point and had discharged several shots from an assault rifle inside the doublewide mobile home on a nice lot.
Law enforcement resources from Franklin County and even Wake Forest, including the Wake Forest SWAT mobile, were called in. Franklin County EMS was on the scene as well.
In the end, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office talked the suspect out, convincing him they were going to take him to the airport. It appeared to be some issue involving a mental health issue.
The hostage taker packed two purple carry-on bags and came out with his mother.
The mother appeared to be unharmed.
The lad was taken into custody.
