Police apprehend Franklinton man who fled during traffic stop

A Franklinton man is in custody following a morning pursuit involving several local law enforcement agencies.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Wake Forest Police initiated a traffic stop along NC 98 near Falls of Neuse Road, for Michael Anthony Allen, 152 Pokomoke Road, Franklinton.

During the traffic stop, Allen, who was wanted for a felony probation violation, fled on foot into the Wakefield community. Several law enforcement agencies responded, including Wake Forest Police, Raleigh Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Raleigh Police located Allen in Wakefield after receiving a tip from a citizen.

Allen is being held in the Wake County Detention Center. He has been charged with felony larceny, driving while licensed revoked, careless and reckless driving, and resist, delay and obstruct. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation.
