The Friends of the Wake Forest Library is happy to announce that they will be conducting a Silent Art Auction in conjunction with Art After Hours on October 10 in Historic Downtown Wake Forest between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Wake Forest Art and Frame Shop will host the event, and refreshments donated by area restaurants will be available.
The art that will be up for auction includes prints, framed original art, and other pieces primarily by local artists. In order to place a bid, participants must register that evening at the Wake Forest Art and Frame Shop (139 South White Street) and obtain an identifying bidder number. The bidding will close at 8:30 p.m., and pickup of items is preferred that evening. Cash or checks only will be accepted.
Funds raised through the auction will be used toward purchases for the Wake Forest Library and in support of the library’s programs. Recent purchases range from incentive giveaway books for the library’s K-5 Summer Reading Program to a large-screen television and Apple TV for children’s programs at the library. The library’s subscriptions to The Wake Weekly and the Sunday edition of The New York Times are courtesy of the Friends organization.
Membership forms will be available at the event, and board members will be on hand to answer questions. Online membership payment is available via the Friends’ web site through PayPal as well.
“We’re planning to have a small fundraiser but a lot of fun,” said Kathleen Ross, President of the Friends of the Wake Forest Library. “We hope to see you there.”
