This past Saturday junior firefighter teams from around the area came together to compete in a contest against other teams.
The challenge was to rack up points in written tests, oral tests, and physical contests.
The families and participants who came out were very enthusiastic about the event. It looked like the contestants wore themselves out with the events while the families wore themselves out with the support and cheering.
I had to leave before the final scores were announced but one thing was absolutely clear, all the teams tried as hard as they could. I’m not a big fan of the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality but in this case all the participants took the event seriously.
