Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. board member and Wake Forest Federal Savings & Loan Senior Vice President/Chief Lending Officer Carter Harrell was recognized as a Main Street Champion during the 2017 NC Main Street Awards Conference in Clayton on March 15.

Altogether, 39 individuals from across North Carolina received honors for their contributions last year. This year’s group of Main Street Champions brings the total number to 678 since champions were first named in 1980.

“NC Main Street Champions go above and beyond to invest their time and talents with the goal of creating vibrant business districts in their communities,” said NC Secretary of Commerce Anthony M. Copeland. “We are proud to welcome these committed individuals into the ranks of Main Street Champions.”

Liz Parham, director of the N.C. Main Street & Rural Planning Center, echoed Copeland’s comments.

“This year’s champions represent Main Street board members and special project volunteers, city employees, developers, business and property owners, artists and residents, all with a passion, drive and commitment to improve downtown.”
