Wake Forest to offer tennis clinics in May for special needs children and adults

Town of Wake Forest News

The Town of Wake Forest will offer a free series of tennis clinics for children and adults with special needs on Sundays in May. The clinics will take place May 6, May 13, May 20 and May 27 from 4-5 p.m. at Heritage High Park, 1150 Forestville Road.

Abilities Tennis clinics provide specialized instruction and practice for athletes, ages 8 and up, with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Coaches and volunteers are trained to teach the fundamentals of tennis, practice drills and fun games geared toward improving tennis skills. Beginners to those with advanced skills are all invited to take part.

Participants should bring/wear the following items to these clinics: tennis shoes, comfortable athletic clothing (no jeans) and water in a labeled bottle.

There is no cost to participate, but registration is required at http://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com/recdeskportal/ under “Abilities Tennis Clinics.”

For more information, contact Recreation Specialist Kelly Schurtz at 919-556-7093 or kschurtz@wakeforestnc.gov or Lou Welch at 919-606-4917.

Responsible adults are needed as volunteers for each clinic. To sign up, visit https://abilitiestennisclinictraining.eventbrite.com.
