Memorial Day Holiday Schedule

The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day. Curbside garbage, recycling and yard waste collection will also be suspended.

Wake Forest Bus Service, including the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop, will not be available May 28 but will resume its normal schedule Tuesday, May 29.

The collection of garbage and recycling for the week of May 30 will change as follows:

Yard waste collection will resume Tuesday, May 29, at 7 a.m. Crews will follow the normal collection schedule beginning with Monday’s route. Collection of the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes will occur throughout the remainder of the week until all routes have been completed.

In order to ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, Wake Forest residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. Tuesday. Please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles or other fixed objects.

Bulk pickups will be scheduled for Wednesday, May 30. To schedule a bulk pickup, call 919-435-9570 by 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message. Residents may also request a bulk pickup by emailing Betty Pearce at bpearce@wakeforestnc.gov.

All voicemail and email requests for service must include the resident’s name, physical address, and telephone number, along with a description of the bulk waste items to be collected. Any service request that does not include the required information will not be processed.

Town offices will re-open Tuesday, May 29, at 8 a.m.

Android and iPhone users can have a guide to the Town’s holiday operations schedule in the palm of their hands by downloading the Town of Wake Forest app and using the app’s “Holidays” function. Designed to offer smart phone users instant access to the holidays the Town will observe in 2018, the function includes information concerning holiday garbage and recycling collection schedules, links to current press releases, important contact information, and more.

IPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android users can download the Town’s free app by searching for “Town of Wake Forest” on iTunes, in the iPhone app store, or in Google Play or by scanning the appropriate QR code provided at www.wakeforestnc.gov/app.aspx.

To receive email notifications concerning the Town’s holiday operations schedule, sign up for E-Notifier at www.wakeforestnc.gov/enotifier.aspx. Area residents are also encouraged to sign up for waste collection reminders and download collection schedules via the Town’s “Waste Wizard” at www.wakeforestnc.gov/waste-wizard.aspx.
