The Wake Forest Board of Commissioners awarded the contract for the expansion of the Northern Wake Senior Center to Focus Design Builders during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 15.
The total cost of the project is $3.9 million, which will include the addition of exercise and multi-purpose rooms and the replacement of the roof.
The project was delayed in February after the Town received only four responses to the initial Request for Qualifications (RFQ). The Town re-advertised the project in March and nine general contractors submitted their qualifications. Ultimately, Focus Design Builders submitted the low bid.
Work is scheduled to begin in late May or early June. Focus Design has pledged to complete the work within nine months.
Tentative plans are underway for a groundbreaking ceremony in early to mid-June.
