Fireworks Spectacular – Top 10 Things to Know Before You Go

Town of Wake Forest News

Wake Forest’s two-day Independence Day Celebration kicks off today with the Fireworks Spectacular at Husky Stadium on the campus of Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road. If you’re planning to attend, here are the Top 10 things you should know, before you go:

  1. Admission is free! Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. Crush, one of the Triangle’s most popular party bands, will take the stage at approximately 6:15 p.m.

  2. The fireworks show will begin at dusk – but there is no official start time.

  3. Picnic baskets and coolers are allowed on the campus and inside the stadium – but no alcoholic beverages, smoking, glass or pets are allowed on the Heritage High School campus.

  4. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the festivities on the Husky Stadium football field or in one of the designated viewing areas on the Heritage High School campus. Spectators may also sit in the bleachers on the home side of the stadium.

  5. No chairs, blankets or bicycles will be permitted on the stadium track. No stakes allowed in the turf.

  6. Expect mosquitoes. Bring bug spray.

  7. Concessions, including hamburgers, hot dogs and popcorn will be available for purchase at the Husky Stadium concession stand. A variety of food and dessert trucks will also be on site, including Lumpy’s, Kona Ice, Sunshine Girls Lemonade, Jays Italian Ice, Morfa Empenadas, Charlie’s Kabobs, KONO Pizza, Big C Waffles, and Mr. Mongolian.

  8. Handicap parking (by identification only) and regular parking will be available on the school campus. Parking will not be allowed along Forestville Road or Foundation Drive. Please note: some parking lots may appear to be public, when in fact they are private. Private lots are intended for business patrons only.

  9. The Kerr Family YMCA and the Town of Wake Forest will offer a free shuttle service. Beginning at 5 p.m., area residents are invited to park at one of the following locations, then hop on a bus for the short trip to Heritage High School:

  • Smith Creek Soccer Center, 690 Heritage Lake Road;

  • Hope Lutheran Church, 3525 Rogers Road;

  • Heritage Middle School, 3400 Rogers Road;

  • Heritage Elementary School, 3500 Rogers Road

The free shuttle will run continuously and drop off visitors in one location on the Heritage High School campus.  The final shuttle will depart from Heritage High School at approximately 11 p.m.

  1. Patience is a virtue. We are expecting a great turnout. Traffic in and around Heritage High School will likely be heavy. We ask for your patience both entering and exiting the school campus. Please note: at the conclusion of the fireworks, no vehicles will be permitted to enter the school grounds until all the traffic exiting the stadium is clear.
