The Wake Forest Police Department is pleased to announce that Officer Robert Woyicki recently completed the School Resource Officer (SRO) Certificate Program at the North Carolina Justice Academy.
Currently assigned to Wake Forest High School, Officer Woyicki is only the 222nd officer in North Carolina to receive the certificate since the program’s inception in 2002.
The SRO Certificate Program is designed to recognize the achievement of law enforcement professionals who have dedicated themselves to making schools safer for our citizens. Upon completion of the program, officers will have mastered several important aspects of SRO training and related topics, thus achieving a high level of professionalism for themselves as well as their agency.
The SRO Certificate Program requires the participants to be sworn law enforcement officers of a law enforcement agency and be assigned as an SRO or have been previously assigned as an SRO. In addition, participants are required to have their agency’s head approval to participate in the program due to the time spent away from the agency in efforts to obtain the training needed to complete the program. The certificate program requires 400 hours of training with a focus on School Resource Officers.
The core requirements for the program consist of the Basic SRO training, in addition to advanced legal training and SRO ethics. All other hours needed to complete the program are related electives offered through the North Carolina Justice Academy.
The North Carolina Justice Academy, located in Salemburg and Edneyville, develops and conducts training courses for local and state law enforcement professionals. The Justice
Academy provides training programs and technical assistance for law enforcement professionals through the five centers of the Training Division: Investigations; Legal; Law Enforcement Leadership; Commission/In-Service; and Tactical/Traffic.
The Justice Academy is a division of the North Carolina Department of Justice under the administration of Attorney General Josh Stein.
