Vehicle pursuit results in fatality

A Raleigh man died Sunday evening after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended when the car he was driving collided with another vehicl

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Wake Forest Police stopped a vehicle along North Franklin Street in the vicinity of Juniper Avenue as part of a routine traffic stop. The driver, Marcus Deangelo Richardson, 34, was operating the vehicle without a license and had two outstanding warrants, including a prior felony flee to elude. Richardson initially stopped for officers, then fled.

Officers initiated a pursuit which continued onto North White Street and into Franklin County.

Moments after entering Franklin County, Richardson lost control of the vehicle and struck an oncoming minivan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The NC State Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic accident, which is ongoing.
