Tribute
Uwhana Fenton Kornegay passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 24th, at Wake Medical Center. Uwhana was born on May 5, 1943 to Edward Alton Fenton and Mary Lee Kitchens.
She was a faithful Christian woman who loved her family more than anything. She was also a skilled, compassionate nurse who served many people in need over the years.
Her loving companion, Pooh, never left her side and brought her much comfort. Nobody ever left her house hungry or sad. Her happiest moments were spent preparing and sharing meals with family, and thanks to that we have many happy times to remember whenever we come together.
Uwhana was preceded in death by John D. Kornegay, her beloved husband of 36 years.
She is survived by brother in law James Wallace Kornegay; children Roy Snow, Marcy Wright (Ron), Joanna McKinney (Charles), Jeremiah Kornegay, Jason Kornegay, Sarah Erwin (Travis), Mary Endicott; grandchildren Stephen Snow, Casey Bobbitt, Naomi Jordan (Adam), Rebekah McKinney, Elisabeth McKinney, Caleb McKinney; great granddaughter Ellie Jordan; and many more extended family members.
