Judy Lackey Bowdish passed away on November 2nd at Transitions of Wake County surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sherman, Texas to parents Gerald and Mary Irene Lackey on August 29, 1941. She attended the University of New Mexico as a National Merit Scholar and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity.
She later graduated from NCSU with honors. She served as a Public Accountant and retired from the NC State Treasurer’s Office. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels, Triangle Family Services, White Memorial Presbyterian Church and the American Diabetes Association.
She is survived by her daughter Jeri Preddy and husband Rob; her son Jim Bowdish and his wife Susan; her sister Jan Lackey, Brother-in-Law James E. Bowdish and wife Tonie; Grandchildren Jamie Mastrucci and husband Anthony; Christina Hardesty and husband Steve; Abby Bowdish, Betsy Bowdish and Jack Bowdish; Greatgrandchildren Alexa Baumann, Tinsley Johnson, Abbey Hardesty and Nathan Hardesty and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband John F. Bowdish of 54 years; her parents and her sister Jeanette Lackey.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving and compassionate care of friend Joann Haywood, the staff at Abbotswood of Stonehenge, the staff at Hillcrest of Raleigh and the staff at Transitions of Wake County.
A celebration of life will be on Monday, November 22nd at 11am at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Rd., Raleigh.
