Novelyn L. Perry – Obituary

Novelyn L. PerryNovlen L. Perry, 89, passed away on Sunday morning, March 13, 2022. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Labon F. Perry and Lela Ray Perry.

Mr. Perry was a member of the Stony Hill Baptist Church for most of his life where he was a former deacon for over 50 years and was the church treasurer for 30 years.

He was a charter member of the Stony Hill Fire Department for 42 years 1958-2000 and had served as Assistant Chief and served as Chief from 1980-1985.

He retired as a Tree Crew Supervisor after 40 years of service, working on the transmission lines for CP&L. After retiring from there, he came to work with Bright Funeral Home as an assistant for 16 years.

Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his first wife; Alberta H. Perry after 44 and a half years and by his second wife, Gracie Faison Perry after 16 and a half years, two good wives. “They were a blessing to me”. He was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters, Leamon Perry, Novie P. Bailey, Novid Perry, Vera P. Ray, Ovid Perry, Vester Perry, L.F. Perry and Gartha L. Perry.

A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon March 19, 2022 in the Stony Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Perry is survived by many nieces and nephews, a step-daughter, Linda Elms and husband, Wayne; step-son, Mack Harding and wife, Teresa; step-grandsons, Jeffrey Elms and Wesley Harding; a step-granddaughter, Sarah H. Borden; step-great-grandchildren, Davin, Sharon Grace, Raelyn, Lindsey, and Ryleigh; brothers-in-law; Vermon Harrison (Beatrice), Lester Harrison and Curtis Harrison; sisters-in-law; Judy H. Dillard and Phyllis Perrott (Jimmy).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stony Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 7521 Stony Hill Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587 or to the North Carolina Children’s Home, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361-9911.

Friends may visit with the family from 1-2 prior to the service in the Stony Hill Family Life Center.
