Reader Pictures This Week Make Me LOL and Maybe Even LMAO

Rather than post all of the individual pictures readers sent in this past week, one-at-a-time, I have accumulated them here. I have to give a bit hat tip to everyone who sent one in. You are amazing and I appreciate your keen eye for beauty and humor and capturing it to share. And of course the equally valuable category, irony. …

My Father’s Dementia Makes Me Laugh

I suppose I must start out with a hat tip to honesty and confess that while the title to this piece is about how my father’s dementia makes me laugh, I do have moments where I secretly want to cry about it. If he had a choice between drifting into dementia or avoiding that storm all together, I’d help him …

Do You Want a New Start?

Big hat tip to Shannah for sending in this license plate. Now I can only hope this plate was supposed to read ANU START or A NU START. Otherwise it sure looks like ANUS TART which would be an incredibly uncomfortable thing to advertise. It seems the plate origin is actually from the television show Arrested Development. The “one” that he cut was a pipe and the foul order was not the result of a poor eating choice but some noxious fluid that was now leaking out. …

Wake Forest is So Stinking Cute I Want to Move There

Not long ago I wrote about Alan Brown, a local Wake Forest resident, who was working on a piece about Wake Forest for UNC-TV. The piece is out and you can watch it above. It makes Wake Forest sound just as lovely and cute as it is. In fact I momentarily forgot I actually do live there. You’ll recognize lots …

Young Man Holds Mother Hostage in Louisburg. Packs Bags.

This morning was not a good day for a 20-year-old-ish young man and his mother in the 100 block of Pineview Drive, a very nice and quiet neighborhood in Louisburg. Apparently the young man took his mother hostage at some point and had discharged several shots from an assault rifle inside the doublewide mobile home on a nice lot. Law …

Police, Fire and Town Departments Take ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

This afternoon was a good time for the Wake Forest Police Department, Fire Department and Town representatives, including Town Manager Mark Williams to stand in the Home Depot parking lot and pour water on themselves. Mission accomplished. Never to back down from a water based charity challenge the Town of Wake Forest bit on the ALS Ice Bucket dare from …
